Hotel Lido Palace

Lido Palace was one of the most exquisite of our experiences in the region. Overlooking the breathtakingly scenic Lake Garda in the northern Italian town of Riva, the hotel exceeded all our expectations for a truly extraordinary luxury sojourn. Open only two weeks, we didn’t expect to find such a well-run ship—in every sense of the word. A brilliant set of renovations fused the hotel’s historic Belle Époque architecture with a metal and glass addition that soars out and above the water like the prow of a great, elegant ship. Outside, the original façade, park, and gardens retain a fairytale Old World essence, while the interiors are a seamless construct of contemporary chic, with a Zen-like modern design and decor inside the hotel’s 34 rooms and 8 suites. The facilities are designed for the utmost in pampering and rejuvenation, and the jewel in the hotel’s crown in this regard is its state-of-the-art Centoundici Spa. Simply one of the best in any luxury hotel we’ve ever encountered, it features a team of highly skilled therapists, high-tech equipment, and restorative services based on the natural healing properties of white grapes and other naturopathic modalities. The hotel’s team of chefs is genuinely talented, dreaming up inspiring, ingenious, and artful dishes with fine precision. The maitre d'restaurant is truly masterful, as he discreetly orchestrates every detail of your dining experience to bring forth a symphony of culinary melodies coupled with remarkable wine parings.

Our Family Loved Most: Our series of relaxing baths, each one calibrated at different temperatures with varying aromatherapies, ending with a soak in a heated, salt-crystal lined, room that allows one to breathe in the healthful properties of iodine. The experience is not unlike basking at the beach in the warmth of the sun, taking in all the nutrients provided by the sea air.
